Welcome to the New Jersey Intellectual Property Law Association
The New Jersey Intellectual Property Law Association (NJIPLA) is an organization of over 300 practicing intellectual property attorneys, patent agents, law students, and interested individuals, primarily from New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Connecticut. NJIPLA is devoted to educating its members and the public about intellectual property and the protection thereof.
As an accredited CLE provider, NJIPLA sponsors and co-sponsors several events each year, including dinner meetings with guest speakers and half-day seminars. Our popular half-day seminars include the Patent Litigation Seminar in March, the Electronics, Telecom and Software Patent Practice Update Seminar in November, and the Pharmaceutical / Chemical Patent Practice Update in December. In April, we cosponsor the full-day Joint Point Patent Practice Seminar with CIPLA, NYIPLA and PIPLA, and typically co-sponsor one or two CLE events with law schools in New Jersey. These events are valuable not only for their educational opportunities, but also for fostering a sense of community among our membership.
In addition to our CLE events, each year NJIPLA honors a person for exceptional contribution to the field of intellectual property law at the Jefferson Medal Dinner, which is held in early June. The Jefferson Medal, which the NJIPLA has awarded since 1951, is named after Thomas Jefferson, who was an original member of the “Commissioners for the Promotion of Useful Arts”, which was the predecessor of the first Patent Office. A list of the Jefferson Medalists may be found here.
We invite new members and encourage their participation in the numerous and rewarding activities of NJIPLA. If you have a question about NJIPLA, or any NJIPLA event, please contact one of our current officers.
